Over 110 years ago a dedicated group of individuals set out to develop a dog that could serve the German
military. The testing programs they developed led to the sport of Schutzhund which is part of a critical
breeding evaluation process used the world over. The success of the program is evident today as the German
Shepherd Dog is the dog of choice among service organizations around the globe. Schutzhund enthusiasts have
created the world-wide pool of German Shepherds that police, search and rescue, customs and military dogs have
been drawn from. Schutzhund enthusiasts are the “people behind the people” who serve and protect all of us.
This summer we will celebrate this relationship between sport handlers and the service organizations we support.
The 2010 Canadian German Shepherd Dog Championships and Sieger Show is being held at the Strathcona Druids
Rugby Club in Sherwood Park, Alberta from July 30th to August 1st . The best working German Shepherd Dogs
and handlers the country has to offer will come together for this year’s Schutzhund competition and
conformation show.
The 2010 Championships are being hosted by the German Shepherd Dog Club of Edmonton with the help of the
Edmonton Police Service Canine Unit and the clubs of the GSSCC Prairie Region.
We look forward to having you join us to watch some of the best working German Shepherd Dogs the country
has to offer. The following pages of the site will provide you with all the information you need to learn
about the dogs and competitors, our organisation and the great sponsors who are helping to make this event
possible.
Thank you
